Massachusetts Teacher Retirement System (MTRS)
The Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System is a contributory retirement system governed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The MTRS, which is the largest of the Commonwealth’s 104 contributory retirement systems, provides retirement, disability and survivor benefits to Massachusetts teachers, administrators and their families.
What YOU Need to Do – New Hires
- Complete the MTRS online enrollment process
- Designate a beneficiary of your account
- Check your pay stub to confirm that you are contributing at the correct rate.
- If you have prior service that you may purchase as creditable service toward your retirement benefit, look into purchasing that service
